2009 Best Outfit Award Goes To...

This man (in his late 50's, mind you) I saw on the 7 train in New York just a couple of days ago. I haven't seen an outfit on someone worth mentioning in such a long time but everything about this man was just incredible! He wore khaki slacks, greyish beige Nikes with a medium purple swoosh, black rainjacket-- the business-y kind, a neatly ironed lavender button down that peeped out from under his jacket, as he held a distressed dark brown leather suit-case-thing (please excuse me for my lack of a better description; just take my word that this, all in all, was beautiful). The man looked so modest-- not flashy or pretentious... he didn't try hard at all.

And of course being the random girl that I am, I awkwardly went up to him and told him how I felt when we both got off at the Grand Central stop. He was taken aback by the random compliment but took it, said "thank you", and gave me the warmest and sweetest smile in return.

Needless to say, I was and still am totally smitten. That's how I always thought fashion should be-- modest and totally by chance.
